Down the twists and turns of the London alleyways, where Chinatown meets the high-streets, lies a small venue where unknown rock bands often play to crowds of less than one-hundred.
Isaac is nineteen, living on the sofa of his best friend’s brother – Eric – after his bible-loving parents tossed him aside because of his sexuality. After two years of struggling to make sense of his life, Eric and Charlotte convince Isaac to attend Red’s gig; an up and coming rock band with a small cult following.
All hell breaks loose and Isaac is left injured, with the whereabouts of his friends unknown and his body crippled on the ground. It’s then that the four members – Troy, Nicolai, Kyle and Moss – aid Isaac by infecting him with a ‘magical’ virus that grants immortality in exchange for consuming blood.
The ‘Paranorm’ world is exposed to Isaac. Vampires, werewolves and warlocks lurk in the depths of the city he has lived in his entire life, but he won’t become one with the night until he completes his nine-month transition, leaving him in the hands of the band and at the mercy of vampire politics.

It was a nice and entertaining book to read. I’m not really big fan of vampires, although I do enjoy them if the story is right. This time, it was one of the times I did like them. The blurb doesn’t really tell much of the story, maybe just how it all start, but there was a lot more than it said there. On that matter it was a good thing for me because it was hard to know what to expect, especially on terms of romance, and I like that. Everything was unexpected and that was fine with me.The plot is good, although I think there were a lot of unfinished conflicts, and I expect that means a sequel is being consider or else it would be a little disappointing. I still enjoy a lot what I’d read. It had a steady and enjoyable pace.
The main characters were something that really got my attention, especially because of the emotions they made me feel. It is one of the few times where I was able to like a book even when I didn’t liked the main character. It wasn’t that I dislike Isaac that much, I guess he was nice, but I just didn’t feel much sympathy towards him and it bother me a little. It was different with the other characters. I found them so much more interesting and I wanted to know more about them. Maybe that’s what makes me think about a sequel, because they were so great. I was particularly fond on Kyle, who was so sweet. I hope he could take a more leading role. I know there’s a book 1.5, but I truly think that will still be too little on this characters.
Overall it was a nice book, sweeter than I would like but I guess it might be a good thing for other readers. I’ll keep checking for possible sequels tough and start reading Interlude (book 1.5) as soon as possible.

Seeing Red Scorched edition by TC Orton Romance eBooks Reviews
I love stories that portray vampires (and other paranormals) in different, original way. This book was exactly that! The romance part was not easy cliché straight forward falling-in-love-at-first-sight thing, but actually was an evolving process that kept my fingers crossed, and with enough small hints to keep desire simmering.
It was also very refreshing to see the main character evolving and changing through the story. I do not want to leave spoilers here, so I'll just say, that few unexpected things perfectly added to the complexity of MC, elevating him from the crowd of sweet helpless boy-toys to slightly menacing one. Just perfect!
I quite enjoyed this. Very much so. So much talent, from someone so young, gives me hope for our future as a gay culture. It was a very brisk read. The setting may have been modern and realistic, but with the tweaks of supernatural basing the story in fantasy and sexual erotic gay sensuality, I wasn't pulled out of it with thought of no or come on, but drawn in. Each character had its own personality, and played off each other in the next/coven/family well like a living, breathing being. It's wasn't hilarious. It wasn't horrifying. It wasn't tense. What was it then?
Very good, story writing that just kept me wanting more. I read it in one night. LOL. And wanted a sequel. That to me, is a good book. I didn't skip anything, because I wanted to read every word he put down. They filled out their story, their souls, from his soul, to mine.
Look forward to reading his other works. I am sure I will continue to be amazed.
I love paranormal romance/erotica to a probably unhealthy degree, and vampires especially hold a place in my heart. This synopsis grabbed me right away, and when I was craving some vamp love this past weekend, it fit the bill perfectly. I enjoyed the author's world building and unique take on the sub genre. Isaac is a very relatable main character and I enjoyed the journey Orton takes him on. I liked the rest of the guys as well. The end is a bit of an HFN, with an ongoing story arc, but I liked we it was left off. It was satisfying and still intriguing. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
T.C. Orton presents us with a really interesting contemporary take on vampires, and that alone has earned him most of his stars in my review. His world, in which a little nest of vampires – Moss, Kyle, Troy and Nicolai - make their way in modern London, is neatly described and nicely defined in a larger global context of paranormal beings and politics. Isaac, a feckless, nearly homeless nineteen-year-old is suddenly cast in their midst, and now there are five, one of whom is a newborn and needs not only to be taught, but protected.
The story is told through Isaac’s eyes, and his awkward approach to being immortal and being part of a family of sorts is rather endearingly portrayed. There is sufficient page time given to the differing backgrounds and histories of his four brothers in blood, and yet I somehow didn’t quite feel any great depth – although I knew it was there. The whole vampire political system is hard to make fresh in the shadow of “True Blood,” and the emphasis on hidden dance clubs was perhaps less to my taste than a more complex vampire social network would have been. I’m old. I want at least some of my vampires to have libraries and live in old houses or quiet apartments. I think the author’s age shows in the kind of hip urban world he imagines for his vampire musketeers. On the other hand, I did very much like the insistence on agency – making choices that determine one’s own direction. Isaac is much like any young person – on the edge of adulthood, yet still unsure of who he is and how he fits in. This is very nicely drawn.
There is a great deal of interesting stuff going on in Orton’s head – not the least of which is the emotional nuances of these vampire – but there is a lack of literary discipline that kind of derails the greater potential impact of the overall narrative. As in the other Orton book I’ve read, the writing is all over the place, and the editing is dodgy. Weird word choices and marginal grammar make it feel like a college freshman creative writing exercise. It bothered me less here than in “Warlock Academy,” and I have to repeat my wish that Orton will take on a professional editor who will crack the whip over him and make him live up to the promise of his fertile imagination.
